Characterisation of micro turbine generator as a range extender using an automotive drive cycle for series hybrid electric vehicle application

This study investigated a micro turbine generator (MTG) as range extender for series hybrid electric vehicle application of constant and dynamic power demand strategies. The demands were calculated through mathematical model based on specific platform using the New European Drive Cycle (NEDC). then used to characterize MTG in controlled test environment. Each strategies produced interesting results terms fuel consumption, emissions, net efficiency, responses. experimental revealed lowest consumption while operated at demand. One also low but with higher emissions. Although exhaust emissions each strategy well below Euro 6c limits. These indicate potential vehicle.
